Une autre menace qui pèse sur bon nombre de candidats, c’est le vœu de la coalition Benno bokk yaakaar favorable à la candidature du président Macky Sall de rafler le maximum de parrains. Si tel est le cas, bon nombre de candidatures vont être disqualifiées.
Le Parti démocratique sénégalais en est conscient. Famara Mané, le maire de Simbandi Ballante dans le département de Goudomp explique que la donne n’est pas la même que celle d’une élection. « Nous connaissons déjà nos militants, nous développerons d’autres stratégies de communication pour engranger le maximum de signatures ». Son collègue libéral de la commune d’Oudoucar dans le département de Sédhiou estime que le Pds est assez représentatif dans les 43 collectivités locales de la région. « En un quart d’heure, nous allons réunir le nombre exigé », a dit Sankoung Sagna.
Mais selon le bureau des élections de la gouvernance, il y a un quotient affecté à chaque région suivant sa population électorale. Mais dans tous les cas, cela ne pourra pas sauver certains candidats sachant que Sédhiou a l’habitude de tomber avec le parti au pouvoir
