Le ministre nigérien des Affaires étrangères, Ibrahim Yacouba, a remis aujourd’hui sa démission au Premier ministre Brigi Rafini. L’ancien candidat à la présidentielle a annoncé que son parti se retirait également de la majorité présidentielle.
Le parti d’Ibrahim Yacouba , le MPN-Kiishin Kassa, avait pris position il y a quelques semaines contre la réforme du code électoral. La formation du ministre des Affaires étrangères avait considéré que le nouveau texte n’était pas de nature à garantir des « élections libres et transparentes ». Dès lors, les jours d’Ibrahim Yacouba au gouvernement étaient comptés.
Mercredi 11 avril, le Premier ministre Brigi Rafini lui a signifié que le président de la République avait demandé sa démission. « J’ai, sur place, rédigé et remis ma lettre de démission et d’annonce que notre parti se retire de la majorité présidentielle », a ensuite annoncé le désormais ex-ministre sur son compte Twitter.
Les autres ministres issus du MPN-Kiishin Kassa devraient donc eux aussi démissionner. Ibrahim Yacouba aura quant à lui sans doute les yeux tournés vers la présidentielle 2021. Candidat en 2016, il était arrivé en cinquième position et s’était fait remarquer derrière les anciens de la politique nigérienne Hama Amadou, Seini Oumarou et Mahamane Ousmane.
