La victoire du parti démocratique de Guinée équatoriale (PDGE), au pouvoir depuis près de 40 ans dans le pays, ne faisait aucun doute. Le PDGE et ses 14 partis alliés ont ainsi obtenu la totalité des 75 sièges de sénateurs, 99 des 100 sièges de députés , et ont été élus à la tête de toutes les mairies du pays, a annoncé le président de la Cour constitutionnelle, Salvador Ondo Nkumu.
De son côté, l’opposition n’aura donc qu’un seul représentant. Le parti Citoyens pour l’innovation a en effet comptabilisé 5,77% de voix, grâce auxquelles il obtient un député. Avec 2,23% des voix, l’autre coalition de l’opposition rassemblant l’Union du centre droit (UCD) et la Convergence pour la démocratie sociale (CPDS), n’est pas parvenu à faire élire l’un de ses membres
Une « honte électorale »
La participation aux scrutins du 12 novembre a été de 84%, selon les chiffres officiels. L’opposition, qui avait déjà dénoncé « fraudes » et « irrégularités » le jour du vote, a fustigé une « honte électorale » et des résultats « antidémocratiques ».
La commission électorale, présidée par le ministre de l’Intérieur, s’est pour sa part félicitée d’élections « transparentes » qui a traduit la « maturité » du peuple équato-guinéen, dirigé par sans partage depuis 1979 par le président Teodoro Obiang Nguema, 74 ans, recordman de longévité pour un président en Afrique.
