’ONG de défense de l’environnement Greenpeace Afrique a publié ce mardi un documentaire inédit sur les cas de disparition de pêcheurs artisans dans les eaux sénégalaises. A l’en croire, ces deux dernières années, au moins deux cent vingt-six (226) pertes en vies humaines et portés disparus en mer ont été enregistrés.
Le documentaire est tourné à Mbour, Thiaroye et Rufisque-Arafat, est accompagné de photos inédites et retrace le dur quotidien des parents de ces personnes disparues et dont, pour la plupart, les corps restent introuvables. Le communiqué rappelle que le dernier rapport publié par la Direction de la Surveillance et de la Protection des Pêches du Sénégal (DPSP) montre qu’en 2017, 92 accidents dont 140 victimes parmi lesquelles des pêcheurs artisans, ont été enregistrés.
Le chiffre est en hausse de 63% par rapport à l’année précédente, avec des dégâts matériels estimés à cent quarante millions quatre-vingt mille cinq cent (140 080 500) francs CFA. Greenpeace exhorte encore les autorités politiques de la sous-région à «renforcer la sécurité des pêcheurs artisans en mettant en place des systèmes de contrôle et de surveillance dans leurs eaux et d’établir une approche régionale intégrée de gestion des ressources halieutiques pour le bien de leurs populations».
