Festival « Ecrans Noirs » de Yaoundé : « Kemtiyu » reçoit le prix du meilleur documentaire international

Le film « Kemtiyu – Séex Anta » du réalisateur sénégalais Ousmane William Mbaye a remporté l’Écran du meilleur documentaire international à la 21ème édition du Festival « Écrans Noirs », qui s’est déroulée du 15 au 22 juillet à Yaoundé (Cameroun).

La récompense est constituée d’un trophée, d’un parchemin et d’une enveloppe de 1 500 euros (environ 1 million de francs CFA) offerts par TV5monde, précise la même source.

Le jury présidé par Jean-Claude Crépeau, et composé de Christa Eka Assam, Iz-Eddine Gourirran et Habi Touré Samba, a distingué le film « pour la force du sujet, la qualité de l’écriture et de la recherche, la rigueur dans la combinaison des témoignages et des images d’archives, enfin l’importance du film pour l’appropriation des grandes figures de l’histoire contemporaine de l’Afrique ».

Le documentaire d’Ousmane William Mbaye, coproduit avec la réalisatrice et monteuse Laurence Attaali, retrace le parcours de l’historien et homme politique sénégalais Cheikh Anta Diop (1923-1986).

Après sa première mondiale, le 7 mai dernier à Sorano, le film « Kemtiyu – Séex Anta » a été montré en Côte d’Ivoire (Abidjan), en France (Paris, Apt) et en Afrique du Sud (Johannesburg).

Il a remporté une dizaine de prix dont celui du meilleur documentaire à la 25-ème édition du Festival panafricain du cinéma et de la télévision de Ouagadougou (FESPACO, février-mars 2017).
