Et pour ne pas continuer à essuyer des revers qui se sont d’ailleurs multipliés par le passé, le Président de l’Apr a cette fois-ci jeté son dévolu sur le chef de la collectivité lébou et non moins grand Serigne de Dakar, Abdoulaye Makhtar Diop. Un choix réaliste dirait une bonne partie de ses souteneurs mais un choix risqué aussi, affirmeraient les observateurs les plus avertis du landerneau politique national. Au demeurant, l’on se demande si ce choix porté sur Abdoulaye Makhtar Diop n’exacerberait pas la rivalité sur le titre de Grand Serigne de Dakar entre Abdoulaye Makhtar Diop et Pape Ibrahima Diagne. Il est évident qu’Abdoulaye Makhtar Diop député et /ou Président de l’assemblée nationale exercerait un contrôle quasi-total sur la capitale et du coup, son rival Pape Ibrahima Diagne n’aurait plus les coudées franches pour se prévaloir du titre de l’autre grand Serigne de Dakar. Et comme le président Macky veut coûte que coûte s’arroger les rennes de Dakar en prévision des municipalités à venir, le fait qu’il ait jeté son dévolu sur Abdoulaye Makhtar Diop pourrait à bien des égards lui poser plus de problèmes que de solutions. Et cette pirouette pourrait probablement profiter encore à Khalifa Sall pour qu’il continue de garder la main sur Dakar.
