Quelque 400 civils tués par les forces de securité et les séparatistes anglophones au Cameroun cette année, c’est ce qu’affirme Amnesty international dans un communiqué publié hier, mardi 18 septembre. L’organisation de défense des droits de l’homme relève aussi que plus de 160 membres des forces de sécurité sont tombés sous les coups des séparatistes depuis le début de la crise il y a deux ans.
L’organisation britannique de défense des droits de l’homme dit craindre une flambée violences à l’approche des élections prévues en octobre, alors qu’elle vient d’authentifier deux nouvelles vidéos témoignant de violences commises cette fois par les séparatistes sur un membre des forces de l’ordre.
La date anniversaire du 1er octobre et l’élection du 7 octobre
« Ces différentes attaques nous laissent penser que la vie de nombreux autres citoyens est en danger », nous explique Samira Daoud, responsable adjointe de l’Afrique de l’Ouest d’Amnesty.
Selon elle, la perspective du 1er octobre, « date un peu symbolique pour les séparatistes » [Le 1er octobre 1961 naît la République Fédérale du Cameroun de la réunification du Cameroun français et du Southern Cameroons britannique], et le scrutin présidentiel du 7 octobre incitent les parties en présence à la surenchère. «… Il y a une volonté réelle de faire une épreuve de force, je pense, de la part des séparatistes. Et probablement aussi des forces de sécurité de vouloir rétablir l’ordre, et donc, la violence prend une tournure un peu inquiétante. »
