Le projet Biosoy est porté par un groupe d’investisseurs privés en collaboration avec des investisseurs institutionnels et stratégiques que sont le Fonsis, le Groupe Avril, NMA du Sénégal et Zalar. Le projet est également accompagné par la banque Orabank avec la garantie du Fongip.
D’un coût global de 5 milliards de francs CFA, le projet Biosoy consiste en la mise en culture de 1000 ha de terres agricoles pour la production de cultures Bio destinées à l’exportation et de semences d’arachide certifiées pour le marché sénégalais.
e projet permettra de créer dans un premier temps 200 emplois directs et facilitera la mise en disposition de biomasse pour le bétail. Le projet aura une contribution significative au PIB et participera ainsi à l’amélioration de la balance commerciale à travers les exportations. Le projet Biosoy qui a été officiellement lancé ce jeudi se situe au sud du Lac de Guiers, dans la commune de Syer, dans le département de Louga.
Selon le directeur général du Fonsis, c’est un modèle d’investissement innovant, dans un secteur prioritaire du Plan Sénégal Emergent. « Ainsi, il a pour ambition de positionner le Sénégal comme un champion d’une agriculture reconnue pour ses vertus et sa croissance ç deux chiffres sur les marchés d’exportation tout en participant à la production de semence pour notre pays. A ceci viennent s’ajouter les gains significatifs apportés par le projet à la commune de Syer en terme d’emplois, de revenus de support d’élevage » a soutenu Ibrahima Kane, le directeur général du Fonsis.
