Les forces irakiennes soutenues par l’aviation de la coalition internationale ont enfoncé ce vendredi les lignes du groupe djihadiste Daesh dans l’ouest de la ville, progressant rapidement dans la bataille pour la reconquête de la deuxième ville d’ Irak.
La partie orientale, séparée de la partie occidentale par le fleuve Tigre, avait déjà été « libérée » des combattants de Daesh fin janvier, trois mois après le début d’une vaste offensive pour reconquérir la cité septentrionale aux mains des djihadistes depuis juin 2014.
