Parti en retraite depuis les années 2000, Diomaye Sene est le plus vieux étudiant au Sénégal. Né vers 1944 à Toucare, village situé dans le Sine, l’homme a décroché son baccalauréat en 2012 à l’âge de 68ans. Admis à l’école primaire en 1949. C’est donc parti pour une vie remplie et pleine de rebondissements en France et au Sénégal, dans l’Armée de l’air, aux Impôts et Domaines puis à l’Ucad. Polygame(4 femmes) et père de plus de 20 enfant , le plus vieil étudiant du Sénégal est formel : « Je n’ai jamais fait une classe deux fois », martèle-t-il.
À 75 ans (sur le papier), Diomaye Séne est aujourd’hui étudiant en master II à l’Institut des droits de l’Homme et de la paix de l’université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar.
Mais comment expliquer donc qu’un homme se retrouve sur les bancs à un âge aussi avancé ?
