Il a d’ailleurs appelé ainsi son 8ème album sorti en juin 2018 sans que l’ont sache réellement pourquoi. Cette transformation a été annoncée sur son compte Twitter, qui lui sert vraiment de média personnel puisqu’il y fait toutes ses annonces.
Ce changement intervient alors que Kanye (enfin Ye) doit sortir son 9ème projet : Yandhi . Annoncé pour le samedi 29 septembre, le délais n’a pas été respecté. Mais ces dernières productions (les 5 EP’s du Wyoming Project ) avaient également connu du retard pour certaines d’entre elles, donc on ne désespère pas de voir cet album avec 6ix9ine et XXXTentacion en guests. Il faut dire que le 27 septembre, il s’est rendu dans les bureaux de The Fader pour leur faire écouter des morceaux non finis et annonçant qu’il se réservait le droit de modifier certains textes…
En attendant, Kanye a fait le show au SNL où il a performé plusieurs sons. Il s’est surtout fait remarquer pour sa performance aux côtés de Lil Pump , fraichement libéré de prison, sur I Love It . Ils ont troqué leurs tenues grotesques du clip pour… se déguiser en bouteille d’eau. Pump en Fidji et Ye en Perrier : une référence à la phase du mari de Kim K dans le morceau lorsqu’il dit : “When the first time they ask you if you want sparklin’ or still?/Why you tryna act like you was drinkin’ sparklin’ water ‘fore you came out here? ” (“Quand on t’a demandé pour la 1ère fois si tu voulais de l’eau plate ou gazeuse/Pourquoi as-tu fait semblant que tu buvais de l’eau gazeuse avant de venir ici? ”).
Il a également joué We Got Love qui devait être sur l’EP de Teyana Taylor, et Ghost Town avec 070Shake et Kid Cudi et extrait de leur projet Kids See Ghost !
