L’enquête portant sur l’attaque de l’école de police d’Abidjan, perpétrée dans la nuit du 19 au 20 juillet, avance vite.
Selon les premiers éléments recueillis, les assaillants sont restés près d’une heure dans l’enceinte de l’école, où stationnent de nombreuses unités des forces de l’ordre, sans qu’aucune résistance leur ait été opposée, ni de la part des policiers présents ni de celle des gendarmes, qui possèdent un camp à moins de 500 m.
À bord de quatre véhicules, ils se sont ensuite dirigés vers Yopougon, où cinq d’entre eux ont été interpellés. Tous sont maréchaux des logis. Trois de ces hommes faisaient partie du Centre de coordination des décisions opérationnelles de Côte d’Ivoire (CCDO), un autre, du 1er bataillon blindé, et le dernier était détaché au sein de l’équipe de football de l’armée de terre.
Une dizaine d’assaillants ont réussi à prendre la fuite en direction de Dabou. Les interrogatoires devraient permettre aux enquêteurs d’en savoir davantage sur leurs motivations. Selon certaines sources, cette attaque avait pour but de tester le dispositif sécuritaire alors que le pays a été ébranlé par des mutineries, en janvier et en mai.
