L’information est confirmée par une source de Seneweb, qui a précisé que l’ancien ministre des Affaires étrangères devient chef de la Mission multidimensionnelle intégrée des Nations unies pour la stabilisation en Centrafrique (Minusca). Il sera probablement installé dans ses nouvelles fonctions en janvier 2019.
Pourquoi Mankeur
Mankeur Ndiaye remplace à ce poste le Gabonais Parfait Onanga-Anyanga. Il sera à la tête de plus de 15 000 hommes. Il était face à une forte concurrence, notamment de généraux. Mais, nous dit-on, l’Onu voulait un diplomate plutôt qu’un homme en uniforme, histoire de coller à l’esprit de la mission qui recherche la paix en Centrafrique.
L’autre avantage concurrentiel de Mankeur Ndiaye, c’est son passage remarqué à la tête de la commission des femmes des Nations Unies. Surtout en cette période où la question genre occupe une place centrale dans les institutions internationales, surtout dans les missions de maintien de paix. Son passage au Conseil de sécurité de l’Onu a aussi plaidé en sa faveur, renseignent nos sources.
