Devant des milliers de personnes, le président camerounais Paul Biya a tenu un meeting le 29 septembre à Maroua. A 85 ans, dont 35 passés au pouvoir, il est candidat à sa propre succession, le 7 octobre 2018, pour un 7e mandat à la tête du Cameroun. Le président sortant part favori, malgré les tensions qui règnent dans la partie anglophone du pays. En 2011, il avait obtenu 77,98% des voix.
